When Does Our Clothing Store Open?
By Blue, April 18th, 2011
Alicia, my Nica mom, jokingly asked me when ‘our’ store was opening because of the mountains of clothes we had collected for the poorer families in our community.
It’s Semana Santa (Holy Week) and many people would love to get some new duds for the occasion but don’t have the money to spare. Thanks to the generous donations of our family and friends of Rancho Chilamate we’ve gathered hoards of clothes – in all sizes for men, women and children… and even a big pile of stuffed animals from a rider group a few months ago.
With over 600 items of clothing we prepared 40+ bags of clothes to distribute to the houses tomorrow morning. My original plan was to bring the clothes to the church to distribute but on Alicia’s advice we prepared the bags to go door-to-door as she says that many don’t make it to church and this gives everyone the opportunity. “And what if they get kids clothes they don’t need?” I ask. She says “they will gift or trade with their neighbor.. It’s Semana Santa.”
Great big thank you for your generosity. Every bit makes a difference.

Keep up the great work Rancho Chilamate. Giving to people who show such appreciation for your kindness is the best feeling in the world! Have a great Semana Santa!
I think Alicia was one of the smartest moves you made (among many). I don’t know who found who, that’s not important, what is so cool is that you did.
